Hello Mr. Jackson,
I am a 37 year old white, married father of five children in central Florida. I don't remember where I first heard about you or saw you. It may have been a Facebook reel or a Jason Whitlock clip. You have had an enormous impact on me in the short time I've known about your work. So deep in fact that when I heard about The MLK Project as you were doing I believe weekly releases, I resolved that once I got my tax refund, I would use some of it to purchase the videos for myself.
We filed in January and just got the refund on Friday June 12th because of the beautiful mysteries making up the IRS. Throughout that entire period I was waiting mainly so I could purchase both seasons of your work.
This should be something every preteen fresh out of elementary Paulo Freire Queer Theory watches - what you have done has successfully and completely attacked and dismantled a sacred cow of American Marxism in Martin Luther King - someone you and I and everyone else in our age group or younger were taught was essentially a modern day Christ figure as we grew up. My own children - in a Christian school no less! - were taught just this year on MLK Day that he "saved the world" in their chapel that week. The well-intentioned stupidity, the lack of reverence given to such phrasing in a Christian school, for a person that was astroturfed in the middle of history at perhaps the most opportune time to create the most chaos possible as a cross hung in the gymnasium rafters is a microcosm of how what was done was able to be done.
I was quick to age-appropriately correct that error with my children but the most discouraging thing is of course how ubiquitous and unassailable the name and mythology of MLK is in our country. Streets, high schools, national holidays, the memory of the man himself, speaking truth about any of it will find one ostracized. Truth!
Please continue your work and hopefully it becomes a tool for the Gospel to find a foothold in the hearts of all young people. There are so many angles of Marxism still open to attack and dissection, they can still be held accountable. I strongly recommend the story of Queer Theory and starting with the book The Queering of the American Child. It's very scholastic and expository, a tough read, ripe for an easier-to-digest (documentarian?) presentation.
In any case, thank you again for your work and I look forward to seeing what else you put out.
